01who we are

IDC,U? is a date discovery app helping New Yorkers plan great nights out. We use AI-powered vibe matching to connect you with venues and experiences that match how you want to feel - not just what's nearby.

This Privacy Policy applies to the IDC,U? mobile app (iOS and Android) and any related services.

02what data we collect

We collect only what we need to give you great date recommendations.

Account info: name, email address, profile photo
Authentication data: login method (email, Google, or Apple)
Preferences: vibe preferences, relationship status, date type
Location: approximate neighbourhood and precise location (only while the app is in use, with your permission)
Usage data: dates saved, plans viewed, venues liked, collections created
Calendar data: dates scheduled, invitations sent, RSVPs, post-date feedback
Device data: device type, OS version, app version, crash logs

We do not collect payment information. Any in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

03how we use your data

Personalised recommendations - matching you with venues and plans that fit your vibe, location, and behaviour
Vibe classification - our AI analyses venue review data to assign one of our six vibe types: Flirty and Fun, Romantic, Low-key Cool, Cozy Corners, Scene and Be Seen, and Artsy/Quirky
Date planning and calendar - saving plans, scheduling dates, and sending invitations
App improvement - understanding how features are used so we can make the product better
Communications - date reminders, invitation notifications, and (with your consent) product updates
Safety and security - detecting and preventing fraudulent or abusive activity

We do not use your data for advertising to third parties or sell your personal information.

IDC,U? integrates with the following services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

Google Places API - venue search and map view
Yelp API - venue review data for vibe classification
OpenAI - AI-powered vibe descriptions and date plan generation
Google Sign-In - optional authentication
Apple Sign-In - optional authentication

05data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in these circumstances:

With service providers who help us operate the app, under confidentiality agreements
When required by law or court order
In the event of a merger or acquisition, with prior notice to you
With other users, when you explicitly share a date plan or collection

06your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access a copy of the data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Request deletion of your account and personal data
Export your data in a portable format
Opt out of marketing emails at any time
Revoke location permission in your device settings at any time

07data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where required by law. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained to improve the product.

08children's privacy

IDC,U? is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at [email protected].

09changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email before they take effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
